PROPOSAL FOR THE BAD CONDITION OF UTHM LECTURE ROOMS

BACKGROUND

Without the comfortable lecture halls, students will not be able to devote full attention during the lecture session running. This is because when there is interference, such as damage Air Conditioning students will feel restless and uncomfortable. We choose to conduct research about the facilities provided in the lecture halls in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia because it is an interesting and important issue to all users, especially to students. With these study students will be able to express their own opinions and their views about the facilities in lecture halls. The opinion will be concluded. Then we will study the causes of occurrence of this problem and thus find ways to solve it.

This study is important because it involves the safety of consumers of the lecture halls. Is there is a problem with the wiring that is not maintained well. Besides, there are also other problems such as damage of LCD projector , chair that is not organized well and so on. This matter should be regarded seriously by the maintenance because it involves the safety of consumers. This reflects the situation lecture halls UTHM image itself. Therefore, it is important to keep up UTHM reputation. Therefore, the reputation of our universities will remain clean.

In addition, this study is very important to ensure that every problem about maintenance that arises for each building in UTHM will be resolved quickly before other problems occurs. Every problem that arises should be resolved as soon as possible. It is because we can not anticipate what will happen as a result of the problem.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS

The bad condition of lecture halls in University TUN HUSSEIN ONN Malaysia (UTHM) can get worse, or it can be terrible to use by students and lecturers if no actions were taken to handle it. These problems must be taken out by all the parties in the university and not just keep it quietly.

Moreover, this problem threatening consumer life in UTHM itself and even the equipment facilities that have been damaged need to exchange as soon as possible. If the problem persists, students cannot adapt and concentrate fully on the lecture session, and this involves wasting times occur not only on students but also to lecturers. UTHM should have committed to facilitate the realization of Malaysia's vision to become a centre of academic excellence within the region. That is why, our university needs to improve its facilities to produce students that have the attitude of leadership and appreciate what it is given.

The Government has issued 2.4 million for facilities for the campus UTHM. If the facility cannot be used and prepared properly to students, it is a useless to the country to expense and detriment it. Before our university were criticize by outsiders because of the maintenance facilities and lecture rooms that do not satisfy them, it is better their local students to criticize first.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The objectives of our research are:
1) To ensure that electrical wiring is in the best condition.
2) Create a learning environment that is safe and comfortable.
3) To ensure that student safety is guaranteed.
4) To avoid undesirable things happen to the consumer.
5) To ensure that teaching and learning is running smoothly without any problems that arise
6) To ensure that equipment in the lecture halls are in good condition and can be used.

LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

It is important to note that my research will be marked by certain limitation. Only then, I will be able to identify the problems that occur in lectures hall in UTHM specifically. My finding is based on the condition that causes uncomforted to use the hall. Furthermore, our research is useful to ensure that the facilities in best condition and students will be able to use it without any problems. this research is made to ensure that the conditions of learning and teaching is in good condition and provide comfort to all people who use this facility. Our study should be able to bring changes to the lecture halls. This is because with the comfortable lecture halls, students will be more focused on the study. Their focus will not be easily disturbed.

DEFINATION OF PROBLEMS

September 9, 2009 in the past, our group has conducted a study to solve the problems about our building facilities on campus especially lecture halls. In our investigation, we found lot of problems occur inside the building which houses lecture rooms and lecture halls like wiring problems, tidiness of the hall and other facilities. If the problem is not resolved it will endanger the safety of students. The user will not feel comfortable to use the halls.

When we conduct research, we find there is excess wire that is not maintained properly. This problem occurs because of the possibility of negligence technicians who manage the technical matters in this building. Not only that, the table and chair not in order. There is also some equipment that cannot be used. In addition, there is no regular monitoring by the technical staff of all damages and no cooperation from all parties to report problems that occur. This problem has been identified in the lecture hall. This problem is evident when we make room in the monitoring. After conducting a study, we found that this problem has lasted long, and throughout this problem persist no action taken by staff of technicians to maintain and repair all the problems. Between the parties involved to ensure that each building is maintained well and regularly is the Department of Real Architecture, technical staff and students.

PROCEDURES

First, we have monitoring around UTHM to detect problems that can be selected as the main scope of our group . After that, we have detect some problems in the lecture halls such as wiring problems , tidiness of the hall, furniture layout and other facilities that is not updated . This problem occurs because of the attitude of technicians who do not care about conditions of the building in UTHM.

After identifying the problems , we make research more about facilities at each corner and area UTHM . We find there is excess wire that is not maintained properly. This problem occurs maybe because of the negligence technicians who manage the technical matters in this building . Not only that, the table and chair are not in order. There are also some equipment that cannot be used.

In addition , there is no regular monitoring by the technical staff of all damages and no cooperation from all parties to report problems that occur . After that we gather as much information as possible to extend the study. Then , we make a report about the analisys . We also provide survey forms and asked 10 respondents to answer that question . Results from this survey we have attached with this proposal .

Lastly, we capture some photos as evidence of this problems . Not extent , we find some information through the Internet , inquiries to friends and ask lecturers .

EXPECTED RESULTS

What can we hope from this research are:

1) Firstly, changes in terms of wiring. If before this wiring is not maintained well, so after this the wire that has been left open now it is already close.

2) Secondly, the learning equipments such as broken chairs and tables have been replaced for a new one. Then place the reminder notices inside each lectures rooms in UTHM that warn students to keep the universities wealth in good condition, if not students will be fined.

3) The technicians observe the lecture room every time it is used and shall examine every LCD projector that is either working or not.

4) The cleaners arrange the chairs and tables more updates and do not scatter anymore after the room is used.

Definition

Parking problem has always been a topic that is often dealt with by citizens UTHM. Lack of parking space give the a problem to many people in UTHM to park their cars. Many students came to campus by their own cars and motorcycles. Occurs when a lack of parking we will find many cars that are park their car on the shoulders of the road.

Problem Statement

After KUITTHO was upgrade as a University because producing graduates who are skilful, knowledgeable and competitive , the upgrading of this, UTHM receive increased student and staff the public. Among of those choosing to bring their own vehicles from riding in vehicles that provided by the UTHM to facilitate them to campus. After surveying and interviewing people in UTHM we found the problem was occurred from parking matter in UTHM.

With the addition of vehicles carried by students and staff has resulted in a limited area of the car and this has resulted in consumers vehicles that put other vehicles on the road shoulder. Parked vehicles at road shoulder has caused other problems that interfere with the passage of vehicles and then to use the pedestrian path along the way, this matter can cause accidents if negligence occurred.

Another problem that we find the following interview with the consumer when the vehicle in UTHM, between them have intentionally parked their vehicles on the shoulders of roads in the area and not parking in the set because they want to facilitate.

Objectives

The objective of this proposal is to ensure that all citizens have the vehicle UTHM get comfort in terms of putting the vehicle in a safe condition. Here is what objectives: -

Ø Reduce traffic
Congestion can be reduced if parking enlarged. Students, staff and lecturers can be placed in a comfortable vehicle.

Ø Vehicles can be placed in a safe
With the expansion of parking area so students, staff and lecturers can put the car in a safe condition without the occurrence of fear theft.

Ø Cars are no longer placed on the shoulders of the road
If no enlarged parking area which will put more cars on the shoulders-shoulders and roadside. This way, cars can avoid this encounter with the van-van came to take and send students.

Ø Not prevent the pedestrian
With the expansion of parking, the vehicle no longer be placed at the pedestrian. In this way pedestrians can walk comfortably and there are no obstacles.

Proposed Solution

in effort from this problem, there is some suggestion how we can solve the parking problem in UTHM.

  • Enlarge the parking area at UTHM.

To add more parking spaces available in the vehicle uthm.

  • Provides a separate vehicle parking.

Vehicles such as motorcycles, cars, vans, and others were placed separately in this manner so that all vehicles more orderly and safe.and also make more comfortable to other.

  • All vehicle must be registered.
Only registered vehicles are allowed to parked the vehicle in place that has been provided by the uthm. for visitors, they are parking the vehicle in an area that has provided by uthm only.

Benefits

With the expansion of parking, students, staff and lecturers can put the car properly without occurrence of congestion. Where a car is no longer placed dibahu-shoulder road causes congestion in the occurrence UTHM. Besides that, it also can prevent pedestrian walkways, with the expansion of parking, the cars are no longer placed on shoulder road and pedestrians can pedestrian routes through comfortably and without hindrance. Cars can be placed in safe condition. Congestion in the parking area can be reduced with the system of segregation by car students, staff and lecturers.
